Ron and Margie became members of Southport Heights Christian Church in May 2007; prior to that, they were members of Forest Dale Church of Christ in Cincinnati, Ohio where Ron served as an Elder as of 1997 until moving to Indianapolis in 2003 to assume a different engineering position. At Southport Heights Christian Church, Ron and Margie have served as greeters for the past two years and Ron has taught a number of evening classes, house-church sessions and filled in for other adult Sunday school classes on an as needed basis. Ron became an Elder in 2012.
Ron and Margie were married in 1979 and have two daughters. Kara, the firstborn daughter, graduated from Bowling Green State University in Northwest Ohio with a degree in Journalism. She and her husband, Jason, live in the Charlotte, North Carolina area where she is the Editor of a local weekly newspaper. Leah also graduated from Bowling Green State University in Northwest Ohio. She received her law degree from Thomas Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. She successfully passed the Colorado State Bar exam in 2011 and resides in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Ron graduated in 1972 from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana with a BS degree in Civil Engineering. He currently works for Schmidt Associates as a Senior Civil Engineer. He is a licensed engineer and surveyor in five states, including Indiana. He enjoys watching all kinds of sports, especially those that involve the Purdue Boilermakers. Margie is an advanced practice Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) and a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) who specializes in Diabetes Management. She currently works for Ezkenazi Health Services.
Greg Meyer has served as an Elder at SHCC since 2012 and previously served as a Deacon since 1977. He is currently involved in the Missions and Finance ministries and other capacities in and around the church.
Greg and Teri were married at SHCC in 1975 and raised 3 children, now all married, at SHCC. We currently have 7 grandchildren.
Greg has worked in the family business, Meyer Material Handling, since 1979 and currently serves as the company treasurer.
Hugh Meyer was baptized at First Christian Church in Columbus, Indiana on October 9, 1966. About one year after that, the Meyer family moved to Indianapolis and Hugh became a member at Southport Heights Christian Church on October 15, 1967.
Hugh has served as an Elder at SHCC since 1996 and prior to that served as a deacon since 1981. Hugh and Debbie were married in 1980. Besides being an Elder and Deacon during that time, Hugh taught various Sunday school classes, served as Property Committee Chairman, was Chairman of the building committee in 1990, served on the Worship Ministry Team, Finance Ministry, Music Ministry, and is currently chairman of the AV Ministry team.
Hugh graduated in 1978 from Purdue University, with a Bachelor Of Science in Business Marketing.
He received a public school education at Glens Valley Elementary School and graduated from Southport High School in 1974.
Hugh has worked in the family business, Meyer Material Handling, since 1978 and currently serves as the company vice president.
Debbie graduated from IU in 1977. In 1980 Debbie agreed to become Mrs. Debbie Meyer. Debbie was brought up in the Plainfield Christian Church and joined Southport Heights in 1978. She is retired from the US Postal Service.
Besides being involved in Southport Heights, Hugh teaches at Ivy Tech Community College and was a past vice president of Indiana FIRST, a statewide organization that supports FIRST Robotics teams located in Indiana. He is currently a mentor for the Center Grove High School FIRST Robotics Team, Red Alert Robotics.
