Steve arrived at SHCC December 1, 2010. He was born and raised in southern Ohio, and graduated from Kentucky Christian University in 1983. He spent over twenty years working with abused, neglected and abandoned children at Christian Children’s Home of Ohio. Most of that time he served as the Director of Advancement. Steve and his wife Joan have two grown children, Corina (CJ) and Ryan. Steve has a passion for preaching, teaching, and evangelism. He enjoys golf, biking, and motorcycles. Most importantly, Steve loves people!
Tanya Henthorn has served at Southport Heights Christian Church since October of 2007. She is a 2002 Family Life/Pre-Counseling graduate of Lincoln Christian College and has served in several churches in Illinois as well as a church in Ohio. Tanya has a great passion for reaching the lost and shepherding children. In May of 2007 the Lord blessed Tanya and her husband Keith their son’s Joey and Shaun. She enjoys scrapbooking and spending time with her family.
Eric is from the metro St. Louis area, where he grew up making music at the piano, in orchestras and bands, and in his home church. Eric received his education at Lincoln Christian University, a B.A. in Music Ministry and a B.A. in Youth Ministry. He earned his M.A. in Worship Studies from the Seminary at Lincoln Christian University, and is currently enrolled in the doctoral program at the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies.
Eric sees worship gatherings as formative – Worship reflects what we believe and shapes how we live. As a Worship Pastor, he has been privileged to serve congregations and lead worship ministries in Illinois, Florida, Missouri, and Indiana. Eric enjoys writing worship songs and has taught many piano students over the years. He and his wife, Becky, have three sons (Parker, Keaton, and Camden), all pursuing vocational Kingdom service. Eric likes pineapple on his pizza, plain soda water, and movies with aliens or zombies.

Southport Heights Christian Daycare Ministry Director
Gayle obtained her bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Northern Kentucky University in 1991, and attended Fort Wayne Bible College for several years. She has been a Curriculum Director and Kindergarten teacher before coming to fulfill her role as Daycare Ministry Director for Southport Heights in 2002. She joined the SHCC congregation in 1996.
She enjoys traveling around the country, reading, scrapbooking, her three cats and guinea pig.
Janna is the Office Manager to the leadership at SHCC and has served in this capacity since November 1, 2006. She is a 2003 graduate from Ivy Tech in Visual Communications and is responsible for the communication and marketing of information via various media forms at SHCC (print, web, etc.) and serves with the Property Ministry on building maintenance and upkeep. She also is the clearinghouse for the church event and meeting calendar, membership database in addition to all of the other day-to-day duties that come across her desk. Janna and her husband have been members since December 2006. Together they enjoy relaxing, photography, travel, movies, concerts, golf and just hanging out at home with their family and their dogs.

Environmental Services Director
Melanie has been employed with Southport Heights since August 2007 (she previously worked with us back from 2004-2005). She takes loving care of our facilities and can be seen from noon-3p each week day. If you’re in, take a moment to stop her and say “hi”! Melanie has two daughters, Merranda and Mariah. Melanie recently married the love of her life, Clayton. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her husband and kids, including her grandson ‘Hunter’ watching movies, scrapbooking and going out to eat.
Church Organist and Sisters In Song Director
Evelyn Badgley has been a member and organist for SHCC since 1977. In addition to playing the organ beautifully on Sunday mornings, Evelyn also leads our Sisters in Song ladies choir who travel each Friday (Sept. – May) to various nursing homes and rehabilitation centers to sing and minister to those who can’t get out. Evelyn is the proud mother to Trish (Mark) Roberds and Angie (David) Smith, and grandmother to Amy, Tara, Danny, Sara, Jamee. Evelyn enjoys playing and practicing organ and piano music, naps and adopting homeless cats and dogs.
